I’ve been a bit lazy with my blog entries lately. Here is an update of things that have happened…

Friday morning, our cousin Laura arrived from Adelaide to stay with us for eight days. Christian drove us out to the airport (to de aaeee paaaart) to collect her. Friday night, Christian’s mum took us out for dinner at Jupiters to thank us for helping with the moving and settlement of their house. The food was delicious, and the drinks were cheap. What more could anyone ask?

Saturday night, Chris and Willy had drinks for Willy’s birthday. Originally, these drinks were supposed to happen at Chris’ old place in New Farm. But since they felt they couldn’t really have a good time with Chris’ housemate’s furniture all over the place, it was changed to be at New Farm Park. Then, because it might rain, and also because no one could drink in New Farm Park, Chris and Willy decided to rent a room at the Formule (it’s for mules, Willy, for mules!) 1 motel just up the road from us in Windsor. $65.00 a night – cheap cheap! Chris was embarrassed because he was wearing black & white checkered shorts, and he didn’t realise that he looked like an Indy girl and he was staying at a racing motel. All the complications and decisions and revisions aside, and despite the fact that the room smelled not-so-faintly of old man and urine, it ended up being a super-fun night, with lots of exploring the hallways that reminded us of The Shining; throwing cheese squares; Willy dirty-dancing with the bunk-bed; Willy thrusting at Noelle’s face; Lauren and Noelle trying 20-second poses competition; and the squashing of cheese into the floor which was the only way we could tell which room we were in when we got drunk and went exploring.

Sunday, feeling none too worse for wear, found us getting up early for a day at Caloundra. We got there mid-morning and went straight in for a swim at Bulcock beach. It was a perfect beach day. Christian showed us how we could swim and not get anywhere because the current was so strong. Clare showed us that sand is a good exfoliant by surreptitiously putting handfuls of it down everyones’ swimmers. We had a picnic lunch a bit further up, in a nice grassy area near a playground. Then we went for a final swim in a beach that had some small waves which Christian tried, somewhat unsuccessfully, to bodysurf, and then packed up and headed home.

I’ve got really bad sunburn. Sucks to be me!

The drive home was interesting. Laura went completely hyper and provided entertainment for the trip, with her hatred of station wagons somehow providing a new, more logical name for them: “dick-shaped cars”. Eg. “Hey Kirsty, wanna have a razz in the back of my dick-shaped car?” (Razz=root in bogan Yamba vernacular).

This week has been fairly hectic for me. I’ve had a couple of agency interviews, my CV has been sent to numerous jobs on Seek, I’ve typed, Worded, and Excelled my little heart out, and I’ve been plagued by an indecision that’s threatened my sanity (though it’s not hard to threaten that. I seem to have such a tenuous grip on reality that even a kitten shaped like a drum kit could send me over the edge).

My favourite job agency so far is Davidsons. The consultant I’ve been dealing with, Krissy, is quite possibly the nicest, most supportive I’ve ever dealt with out of any agency. I’m currently waiting to hear back from her on a couple of possibilities. I hope that I find employment through them because they are an excellent recruitment company to deal with.

Apart from the job interviews, the work situation has been pretty stress-free this week. Apart from today, that is, but I’m not even going to open that can of worms. I think the reason I haven’t been as stressed is because I can see the end from here, I can see all of this no longer being an issue for me. Before it seemed I was just treading water, and I’d continue doing that until I exhausted myself and drowned. I was sure that this was going to be my last week of work. I was sure that I was going to just say, on Friday, “Today’s my last day. Thanks for the opportunity, but I won’t be continuing my employment here.” I’m hesitating because the future is unknown, and the unknown is scary, especially when the past tells me that I might have to wait three weeks to get another job. I don’t think that will happen, because there’s so much temp work out there that, even if I don’t find another job straight away, I shouldn’t be without something to keep the coffers filled until I find that perfect role (it’s never gonna happen, Cass!). Well, perfect for now anyway. I’d like to be able to respect my employer, because I find I am able to work much harder for someone that I respect. And I feel that I will never be able to do that again where I am now. There’s a lot of lost faith, a lot of resentment, and a lot of bitterness. The only thing that stops me from regretting ever accepting the job in the first place is the people that I’ve met there. My friends. Ben, Calum, Mel, Nic, Aileen… all very important to me, and probably the one thing that’s stopped me from going insane lately. Thanks for being there to commiserate. I will miss you lots.

Okay, so up to now. Last night, we had a Thai food & DVD night at ours with Lauren, Nathan, Christian, Clare, Noelle, Laura, The Baby, & me. We watched Clerks II, which Christian and I had already seen but enjoyed it so we didn’t mind watching it again. It’s a pretty good movie – not as angsty as the first one (according to Nathan. I can’t really remember, I watched it that long ago.) All i remember from the first clerks is…

BIG AMERICAN PARTY!!!!!!!!!

Due to circumstances beyond my control, Casbot blog has been down for a while. But it’s back up again, and hopefully will remain up FOREVER (said in a booming, ominous tone). I felt disenfranchised, and I was going into blogging withdrawal. It’s a very serious condition – symptoms include depression, a general feeling of uselessness, severe boredom, and an uncharacteristic desire to log off the internet after five minutes of pointless surfing. The only cure for me was to reinstate my site, and edit all the content that could possibly get me into hot water.

So, what you see here is not the original, but the censored version of the original. It did make me quite sad to have to cut out entire sections of blog entries, but I suppose that’s what happens when you integrate yourself into a bureaucratic society. I don’t think I’m cut out for a censored life.

Yesterday, Calum and I went to Currumbin Sanctuary, on the Gold Coast. As you can see in the following photos, we had a grand old time.

On Friday night, Christian had a dinner at his place and invited me, Lauren and Nathan over. The reason for the dinner was so that Lauren and Nathan could meet Neo. I, of course, have already met Neo many times. I have also been bitten by him many times (no hard feelings, Neo!). Christian cooked a delicious meal of chicken breast stuffed with spiced gouda and avocado, and wrapped in prosciutto, on a bed of cous cous and steamed vegetables. Yum! Then we had banana fritters and vanilla ice cream for dessert, which was a special treat considering banana prices at the moment.

Mum and dad are selling our house in Wooloweyah. You can view its entry on Realestate.com here. It’s quite sad that it’s being sold, especially as, if it were fixed up a bit, the price it could go for would be a lot higher. Mum has already asked me to help out with settlement once she finds a property she wants to buy up here, but there’ll be no need for me to help out if she’s going to borrow money in order to purchase it – the Bank will take care of settlement for properties it takes security over. We’ll be living here in this house for another year yet, or at least until the Wooloweyah house sells.

Sooooo today was our first day in our new building. Best river views ever. There was a slight problem in that our desks are on the Western side of the building, and it seems to get uncomfortably warm despite the airconditioning. Closing the blinds helps a little, but mainly with the glare. It’s still pretty warm. I’m hoping that I will get to move at some point in the near future, if I don’t leave beforehand.

The view from my desk, if I swivel around in my chair:

And some others:

When we first arrived this morning, we were greeted by breakfast in our food preparation area. They supplied us with bacon & egg muffins, cut up fruit, ham & cheese croissants, bagels with some crap on them, and tiny muffins. Plus bottles of orange or blackcurrant juice in the fridges. It was cool! The day slowly became less cool, after about the one millionth phone call and stupid email from stupid people. Plus people are being rude because things aren’t going their way, and there’s nothing that they can do about it because they have no control over what’s happening with us.

I’m looking forward to the first time we get to see a storm moving in from the big windows, that’s going to be awesome. Imagine if it hails, and they’re huge hailstones, like golf ball size, and they crack the windows. That would be ironic, because the company would have to call itself to lodge an insurance claim. It would be funny if they rejected the claim and said something like “people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”. Not that they were throwing stones, but just having your walls made of glass is asking for trouble. Expensive trouble.

Having a shower when you first get home from work is one of the best things about summer. The comparative fresh feeling that you get almost makes it worth having to suffer through the heat and humidity in the dirty city. ALMOST. I’d say that if you’re one of those people who think that it DOES make it worth it, you’re one of those people who say summer is their favourite season. Also another nice thing is having a shower and then going into an airconditioned room from the heat of the bathroom. Bestest.

On to something more fun and exciting: A list of my DS games :D Click on the image to go to the Nintendo page for that particular game.

Animal Crossing - Wild World

Animal Crossing – Wild World is cute. You get to have a house, plant flowers (I keep stealing the prettiest flowers from other people’s yards), buy clothes (I’m wearing a viking helmet and red glasses right now), write letters, do little jobs for other people, go fishing, collect shells and fruit and sell them in the store… You also get to furnish your house, and sometimes if you do things for other people, they’ll give you a present in the form of something to put in your house.

Big Brain Academy

Big Brain Academy tests how much your brain weighs based on your ability to solve various different puzzles in different levels of difficulty. I haven’t played this one much yet, it’s one of my newer games so I don’t have a score for every puzzle yet.

Mario Kart DS

I <3 this. It’s just like Mario Kart 64, except little and with a combination of tracks from all the previous Mario Kart games. I can’t wait to unlock more tracks.

Nintendogs - Daschund and Friends

My puppy is a Siberian Husky named Joue. I haven’t had a lot of time to teach her new tricks, but she knows how to sit and she was learning to roll over this afternoon. She met Lauren’s puppy Lola on the weekend, and Brian’s puppy Kemo, who is also a Siberian Husky.

New Super Mario Bros

I <3 Super Mario Bros too. It’s sort of like Super Mario Bros 3, with a game map and mini games etc. I wrote about this on a previous blog. Quit being so lazy, GOSH!

Brain Age

My brain age is pitiful, because I only ever get time to play this when I’m tired after a long day at work, or on the weekend after I’ve just woken up and my brain isn’t functioning yet. I like the fact that you get to unlock different brain training programs the more you use the game. I do best in memory and language games, and worst in calculations, surprise surprise.

Wario Ware - Touched

This game is awesome and weird. It’s all mini game where you have to use the stylus to do certain things. My favourite is the little halloween girl, because the boss level is where you are the earth floating through space, and you have to save a baby that looks like a foetus that’s floating through space. When it hits the earth, it gets smaller and smaller until finally you hear a splash and it drops into the ocean somewhere. It’s funny.

On Saturday night, Christian and I got to stay in a super duper amazing room at the Sofitel in Brisbane. I had booked just a suite (which was a good deal in itself) and when we went to check in the girl at the counter told us we had been upgraded to a premiere suite. It was called the Renoir Suite, next to the Cezanne Suite and just down from the Monet Suite (I think that’s the one with two floors).

Our room had:

A lounge room with a flat screen TV:

image008.jpg

A bedroom with a king size bed with the bestest sheets and pillows imaginable:

image009.jpg

A huge bathroom with a spa and a double-headed shower:

image012.jpg image014.jpg

A safe (which we locked an empty evian bottle in when we left, and yesterday at work Mel said that they might charge my credit card for the cost of getting someone in to unlock it! :o )

image023.jpg

An awesome view of the city (we were on the 29th floor):

Brisbane

The floorplan of our room (I stole this from the website because I am an 1337 $up4 h4×0r):

renoir_floor_plan.gif

This was the sofitel club that we ate breakfast in the next morning. It looks really dark in the first photo because the light from the windows was so bright. But actually the room was nicely lit, as you can see in the second photo:

image004.jpg image006.jpg

Breakfast the next morning was cool. There were a few reasons for this:

* It was free
* It was on the top level (level 30) and had an amazing view
* The club was brand new and cost $2 million to build (this I learned while I was on hold when I called reception because we had no hairdryer in our room)
* It was nicely furnished with armchairs and little tables
* There was lots of nice food
* They had fruit smoothies in little glasses randomly placed amongst the other foods
* They had little button mushrooms in a silver spherical bowl thingy
* The orange juice was nice
* We were comfortably full but not overly so, like you can sometimes be after yum cha

The awards were also on that night. Mel has all the photos from the awards, because I stupidly forgot to bring my camera with me, so I’ll have to wait until she gives me a copy of them to upload them. I got photos with the lions outside City Hall, and also as a drug addict on the bathroom floor (because it was all cracked and ugly, and not nearly as beautiful as the ones at Stamford Plaza).

BUT Benyamin and I did get our photo taken with Richard Wilkins (he was the emcee). It’s a bit blurry because Deb didn’t know that you have to hold the phone camera still when u take a photo:

14. Do you own a knife?
a PIRATE SWORD. GOSH.

15. Do you have A.D.D.?

I have work to do but I would prefer to be on the Internet. I just changed the setup of my googlepages account to be advanced and to support experimental and developmental (hehe mental) content, so now I can actually edit the html and not use the gross and boring layout that they have at the moment that makes me look like a n00b. I don’t have any other layout though, so maybe I really am a n00b. And I don’t think that any layout that I make would be any better than the n00bified one that I have at the moment, so I’m pretty much stuffed. Stuffed like a stuffed vine leaf (aka DOLMADE! why are they so cold-hearted?).

We had morning tea at Lauren’s place today. We were originally supposed to all go out to Yum Cha, but then because Lauren overbooked and doubled up with guests and commitments, we ended up just going to her place and having foods cooked at home. It wasn’t entirely bad; there was some pretty funny conversation.

Hmph. I brb after I finish fixing my net connection. Now that Rosie is home, I am no longer allowed to use the Ethernet cord, so I’ll have to figure out wtf is wrong with my usb thingy.GOSH.

I am tired!

It’s late; I should be going to sleep.

Tomorrow is payday! Yesssssssssssssssss! Then next week is another payday (because of bonus) Yessssssssssssssss! Then the week after that is another pay week! Yesssssssssssssss! I’m so paying stuff off. Then I’m going to suspend and defer like it’s going out of fashion. Which it is! Because being poor is so last week. Or so today. But not tomorrow.

I’m going to get Napoleon some kitten food, some kitten milk, some toys, a proper kitten bowl… Maybe I might put some photos in to get printed also, because I’ve been meaning to do that. I have so many to get done! But then also I have lunch with Beck tomorrow. That will be good – my first bought lunch in a long time. Beck and I always get Nandos, and that’s the only time that I eat Nando’s for lunch during the week. The only other time I eat it is with Christian. We had Nandos for dinner tonight and it was YUM!

John & Pai’s bbq was on tonight, at Southbank. Lauren made strawberries and drowned them in cream, and they tasted really good, but I feel a bit queasy now. Nathan also has issues with lactose. We were talking about when you cook with lactose free milk or cream, and eat food that tastes the same as before but afterwards you don’t feel sick, you just feel normal, and how that must be how it is for other people who don’t have lactose issues. I’ll just have soymilk usually, but I don’t drink it that much at all.

Nathan’s (work Nathan) farewell drinks are on this Friday night at the Normanby. I chastised him today for choosing such an inconvenient location. Really! That’s like… Kelvin Grove almost! Red Hill practically! How do you even get there? I guess the 379 bus goes right past it, along that road (Kelvin Grove Road?), but I never catch the 379 because I don’t know where it leaves from. Somewhere near the law courts, or the magistrates’ courts or something. That reminds me: If ever you are signing something that requires a JP or C.Dec to witness it, don’t even bother going to the Post Office. Sure they have JPs there, but they are the type of JPs who won’t say they are a JP and won’t sign stuff. What’s the point? So just go straight to the magistrates court. That’s where all the best JPs are, and you’ll always definitely find one to sign whatever you need signing.

Anyways, I think I’ll go to bed now. Maybe another blog tomorrow, I don’t know because it’s another day and I can’t look into the future!

I’m meant to be moving things into my new room, and getting everything set up (I think I have a grand total of five powerboards to fill), but I’m just taking a break for a minute. Like they did in Fearless, when they were planting the rice and the wind was blowing. Woooooooooo (that was the wind). It’s not really like that at all. What a terrible analogy. Sorry everyone.

How good is the rain? How good was the dinner that mum cooked tonight? How good is… Ok, I’m done with the how goods. How good is it not to come home to your anxious mother worried sick about her absent daughter? Well, I personally wouldn’t know! How good is it not to have to listen to ultimatums sung to the tune of “if you don’t do this you can f***in well move out”? (It’s a pretty complicated tune. Very dirgy. Lots of haunting violins and violent crescendoes). It doesn’t bother me so much except that with all the yelling and the slamming of doors I can’t hear myself think. It was literally like that… I was trying to listen to what my brain would think up next, and all I could hear was “call your father and you can go live with him!” Yeah right! I remember when mum and dad first split up, and dad moved to the house down the road (after we’d moved out to Maclean and then to Yamba and then finally back home again) and for some reason we were still meant to stay over at his place. It was one room! Down the road from our four-bedroom house! GOSH. And anyway, there were ants EVERYWHERE. Marching in little lines from every crack and corner. I had images in my head of waking up in the middle of the night with ants in my ears and my mouth, and all through my hair, and you’d never be able to get them out, and then you’d smell like dead ants ALL THE TIME.

This weekend was fun. Friday night was drinx for Tanya’s farewell. Apparently Kathryn showed up after I left. I always just miss her whenever work drinx are on and she ends up going out. I think there’s a conspiracy. Anyway, I had three drinks by 6:30pm (happy hour @ Port Office = $4.00 smirnoff blacks! how can they do that??) and so I was kind of tipsy when Christian picked me up. Weekend cool stuff: Thai, Saturday morning in the Valley, rolls from the Valley bakery (near Wing Hing), sun/shade baking in New Farm Park, New Farm Park fresh produce markets, Yum Cha Sunday morning, an impromptu debate in a city coffee shop, lazing around, Sunday afternoon movies. Sounds like a busy weekend, but didn’t feel as busy as usual, which is strange.

Aaaand highlight from today: Putting my camera’s memory card into the computer and discovering surreptitious, sneaky photos…

What on earth is Eh Steve doing? And when were these photos taken? I guess it will remain a mystery, as Eh Steve has neither the will to reveal his secrets nor the vocal chords needed to create speech. Ah well.

Ok. Photo time…
wall tigers
The tigers on my wall at work. I can’t remember where I got them from, but I think it might have been Dreamworld. Sometimes they are placed in compromising positions (by Nathan, of course), but they’ve been left pretty much alone lately. I wonder why…

Electricity Box Spring Hill
The most disgusting electricity box thingy in the Brisbane/Valley area. For sure. (Like anyone can even know that Napoleon!) What are those little things? Why are they surrounding that man? He looks as disturbed as I feel by even just glancing at this atrocity.

This is Christian’s cat Neo being a duck. Or a boat. Zooooom!

Oooh I almost forgot! New photos of Napoleon! Look how cute he is…

Yay! Today’s photos of Napoleon were brought to you by: Brooke’s friend Sarah, Leigh, Brooke’s phone, Christian’s phone 1, Christian’s phone 2, some hot bluetooth action, and finally, lappy.

The weather is beautiful. I am frozen and the rain is falling (maybe in the catchment areas!) and it’s nighttime. Everything feels peaceful and nice. I had a great night. I’ve had a great few nights. Apart from some inconsequential (well, inconsequential to me unless I let them be otherwise, but fairly consequential to someone else who won’t acknowledge that they are affecting other people’s lives with their apathy) and unimportant annoyances, which I am not going to let  bother me, apart from those, it’s been a great week. Did you know that I used to be even worse at telling stories than I am now? When we were young kids, Lauren told me that she didn’t want to listen to me talk when we were walking home from the bus stop together after school. And alcohol only seems to exacerbate things. I like to get things straight and I do it out loud rather than in my head, so my stories involve a lot of sorting out of details (and this really should be done before you start telling the story). And I talk a lot. I need an auto-summarise. We watched PC vs Mac videos tonight and Nathan said I disproved any points that I had made by making him watch those videos. But the Mac videos are just as biased as the PC ones, and really it’s just six of one, half a dozen of the other. Who really cares? I’m not on anyones side.

Tonight Melody and I were standing outside the Regatta waiting for dad to pick us up, and some angry guy comes out of the Regatta surrounded by security guards. He’s yelling something about some guy grabbing him in the crotch, and when the security guards think it’s ok to leave him, he starts running back into the club. Nothing could calm him down. He went on for about 10 minutes, and everyone was laughing at him. His girlfriend was so embarrassed and upset, but I was thinking “if a guy I was going out with EVER acted that way, he would be out the door with a bootmark on his ass.” After he’d had enough of going off at innocent bystanders, he went and started bashing up an electrical box on the side of the road. Some security guards ran over to him and he stalked off, challenging them at the same time as walking backwards. Big brave man! what a fucking joke. I hate this irrational aggression disguised as indignant machismo. Like jeez, get a fucking hobby.

Anyways. Tomorrow morning we’re going to yum cha for dad’s birthday. I love yum cha. Yum.

I can hear some guy yelling across the road. It was sounding like they were having a party earlier, but now someone sounds angry and sarcastic. Well, it’s all fun & games until someone loses an eye isn’t it??

I had fun tonight. I had a good day today.

Oooooops i’m supposed to have vegemite toast so i don’t get sick tomorrow! haha!

Ok. I should go do that.
